Final July Friday Sizzling At 115 Degrees
This final Friday of the 2025 version of July found the outer world at my North Texas location warmed to 99 degrees at my regular morning communing with nature time of the day.
With little wind blowing.
So, I opted to travel in air-conditioned comfort the short distance from my abode to the nearest chilly Walmart to get in my endorphin acquiring aerobic stimulation.
And, since it was Walmart, the aerobic stimulation was combined with fascinating anthropological observations.
So, what's up with the photo above showing 115 degrees?
Well, a couple minutes after 5 this Friday afternoon I exited my air-conditioned interior space to walk the short distance to my air-conditioned means of motorized motion.
It was a HOT short walk.
When I ignited the vehicle's engine, I saw the vehicle's temperature monitor informing me that the reason I felt HOT was because the temperature was 115 degrees, as measured via the Fahrenheit method.
I had exited my abode because I wanted to go to ALDI to acquire ingredients I needed to make a burrito casserole tomorrow.
It's only a couple miles to ALDI. And a short HOT walk from parking to store entry.
But, ALDI did not have a couple of the ingredients I needed. That necessitated driving to the store across the street from ALDI.
Walmart.
And parking a longer distance from the store's entry than is the case at ALDI. Thus, a HOT walk to get to air-conditioned comfort.
You may be wondering why I did not go to ALDI this morning, when I went to Walmart, with you thinking the Walmart by ALDI is the one I went to this morning.
I have two nearby Walmart's. The one I went to this morning is about a mile from my abode. The one by ALDI is about two miles from my abode.
This town has three Walmart's. The third one is at the north end of town, by the air force base. It is the biggest of the three Walmart's in town. And the least entertaining, anthropological observing-wise...

Another HOT Texas Friday Frying In The Heat
Currently, on this second Friday of July, it is only 91 edges in the outer world, at my location, with the humidity making those 91 degrees feel like 99 degrees.
So, for the rare second day in a row I opted not to venture out to the outer world for some salubrious endorphin acquiring activity.
I also opted not to go to Walmart, my fallback location in bad weather, for anthropological observations and some high-speed grocery cart pushing.
The weather is wearing me down, way more than previous summers in this HOT location on the planet.
I could escape Texas for cooler climes. But where? My old home zone of Western Washington is in what they think to be a heat wave, with highs in the 80s, overnight lows in the 60s. I have experienced a Washington heat wave after being acclimated to the Texas HEAT. I shiver at those low Washington heat wave temperatures.
There is a high school class reunion, of sorts, the final Saturday of this month. I wish I felt motivated to attend and get well chilled.
I read today that only two American states have never recorded temperatures over 100.
Alaska and Hawaii.
Alaska and Hawaii being the most recent states added to the union, numbers 49 and 50. If I remember correctly, and sometimes I do, Hawaii is state number 50.
Currently I have my A/C set at 78 degrees. I am contemplating going lower...

Fort Worth Has Turned Into A Desert Hotter & Less Humid Than Phoenix
The above was taken from my computer based temperature monitoring device a few minutes before 6 on this HOT sunny Sunday afternoon in Texas.
As you can see, and, if you are in Texas, feel, it is HOT. And going to get HOTTER.
As in, on Wednesday, it appears we are going to be sizzling.
One benefit of all this HEAT is it has burned off much of the humidity. Currently the humidity is only 18%.
In Phoenix, at this moment, the humidity is 27%, with the temperature chillier than Fort Worth, at 102 degrees. With the humidity in Fort Worth being lower than Phoenix, does this mean we are now experiencing a desert climate on this part of the planet?
Will Saguaro Cactus soon be arriving? I hope so. I really like Saguaro Cactus.

A Very HOT 100 Degree Blissful Saturday In Fort Worth Texas
Well. As predicted, we got over the Century Mark today. According to WeatherBug, 103 was the high.I got back here about 6 and woke up my computer. I saw WeatherBug was flashing 102 in red. I hit the WeatherBug button to pop open the program so I could do a screen cap, but before I could do that WeatherBug had refreshed with the current chilly temperature of 100.
This morning, to escape the HEAT, I took a cool virtual trip down to Huntsville, to check out "Ol' Sparky". Sparky being the electric chair we used to use to electrocute bad people here in Texas. Sparky fried 361 evildoers between 1924 and 1964. That is a lot of sparking.
The HEAT is seeming particularly HOT today. The A/C is getting a workout.
Around 3 I felt the need to be out in it. Why? I really don't know, besides the fact it makes me feel good. But, I did not want to go all aerobic in hike mode. Instead I went to Oakland Lake Park where I could sit under a tree and look at peaceful Fosdic Lake.
But, upon arrival, my favorite picnic table was occupied. Someone was having a big BBQ, complete with one of those blow up jump houses. So, I drove to the other side of the lake. It is not a long drive. There is a picnic table in the shade on that side. And it too was being used. This was unprecedented. The second picnic table was also having a BBQ party, this one birthday themed, complete with HAPPY BIRTHDAY spelled out on a string strung between trees.

I had one more picnic table option. Not my favorite location. No view of Fosdic Lake. But it is in the shade. So I sat myself down, unloaded my water bottle supply from my backpack, got out my book and proceeded to read.
At about the hour mark I went into some strange sort of bliss mode. It was quite relaxing. I recommend it. Reading outdoors, under shade, when it is over 100 degrees. It does not even look HOT in the picture, does it? Just peaceful, cool and serene.
I'd go swimming again, but I really overdid it this morning. In a good way.
See you in the morning. I'm in Saturday night mode now. Whatever that means.

Looking Out At Texas While Drinking Coffee On My New Patio
You are looking out at the Saturday morning, 2 days before the Summer Solstice, view from one of my computer room windows, looking out at my newly refurbished bedroom patio balcony.I like the change. It's more like a sidewalk cafe.
I drank coffee and read the paper out on the new balcony this morning. It was very pleasant. After drinking coffee and reading the paper I went swimming. That was also very pleasant.
It may be 2 days before summer, yet this morning the air felt pleasantly enough temperatured that I opened the windows. I do not recollect ever doing this at this point in the year, in Texas, before.
It is not even 9:30 yet and we are already at 83 degrees with a Heat Index of 87, heading to a high, again, of 98.
Monday's high, with Monday being the first day of summer, is predicted to be 100. If we hit 100 on the first day of summer, I'm thinking this is an omen of a very HOT Texas summer. Very HOT.
I have now closed the windows. It is totally possible they may not be opened again until the cold winds of fall begin to blow.
