First Walk Of The New Year Around Sikes Lake With Geese
This third day of the New Year, with the temperature not too chilly, with hardly any wind blowing, I had my first outdoor walk of the New Year of 2024, via a fast walk around Sikes Lake.
Some of the Sikes Lake goose massacre survivors were enjoying the return to being well above freezing, by going into Geese Flotilla mode.
In the photo documentation you are looking north, across the flotilla of geese, from the east side of Sikes Lake.
I have not seen the Goose Massacre protesters for several weeks. Did they give up on protesting the mass murder of 383 Sikes Lake geese?
Did the protests result in an agreement by Midwestern State University to not engage in Geese Genocide, ever again, and instead find a more goose friendly solution to the over population of geese?

Back With Sikes Lake Geese & Yellow Wildflower Carpet
With the temperature barely in the 50s, it was to Sikes Lake I ventured this morning for a fast walk around the lake, with a lot of other lake walkers.
After the mass murder of 383 Sikes Lake geese, a couple months ago, the few geese which remain can not keep up with eating all the sprouting vegetation, like this carpet of yellow wildflowers you see above.
The geese you see flocked above were the only geese I saw today as I walked around Sikes Lake.
On Saturday I saw a flock of a different type on the way to Lucy Park.
The flock of Sikes Lake Holocaust protesters were back, with the largest group of protesters, yet seen, along with the biggest protest signs yet seen.
I have yet to learn what the Geese Holocaust protesters hope to see happen. A promise of no more goose murders? Criminal charges brought against the goose killers? What?
I sure do grow tired of how fast time seems to be accelerating.
The dreaded (by me) holiday season is fast approaching.

Hot Walk Around Sikes Lake With Few Geese Along With Goose Murder Protesters
I did not overheat during yesterday's walk in Lucy Park. Clouds were blocking most of the sun's rays.
So, today, the day known as Saturday, the second such day of August, I decided to walk around Sikes Lake, even though there is little shade at that location, and the temperature was in the 100-degree range, with a strong wind blowing, making the air feel cooler than 100 degrees.
The air may have felt cooler than 100 degrees, but, unlike yesterday, today I overheated, ending up being a sweaty mess by the time I got back to the air-conditioned comfort of my mechanized means of motion.
Tomorrow I think my walking will once again take place in Walmart.
The walk around Sikes Lake is noticeably different since the mass extermination of 343 geese, about a month ago.
The remaining Sikes Lake birds, even though being birds of different feathers, seem to be flocking together, sharing one of the few shady locations around Sikes Lake.
Even though the mass murder of the Sikes Lake was several weeks ago, the Goose Murder Protesters are still protesting. By the time I exited the Sikes Lake parking lot about a dozen protesters were waving Goose Murder protest signs, standing in the shade on the south side of Midwestern Boulevard.
I have yet to learn what the goal is of the Goose Murder Protesters. Do they want to see someone charged with Goosicide? Or what?

Shady Lucy Park With Geese Mass Murder Protestors AT MSU
The temperature in the outer world was cold enough this morning to motivate me to drive to Lucy Park for some shady high speed walking. On the way to Lucy Park, on Taft Boulevard, on the Midwestern State University campus, I saw the lady you see above, protesting the mass murder of 343 Sikes Lake geese.
On the way back from Lucy Park I slowed up when I came upon the protesting lady, hoping to take a picture, and read what the sign said.
"HONK FOR The GEESE Who CAN'T"
I added the much needed apostrophe to CANT.
I recognized this lady. I have made mention of her, previously, as recently as a week ago in More Details About The Mass Murder Of Sikes Lake Geese.
When I saw the Goose Extermination Protestor on the way to Lucy Park she was protesting solo. When I saw her on the way back from Lucy Park she had been joined by another protestor. A bearded man holding a sign. I did not get a photo of him, nor do I remember what his sign precisely said, but I do remember the phrase, "GEESE MURDER" was part of it.
Now, on to shady Lucy Park.
The Lucy Park suspension bridge over the Wichita River was looking hot today. The temperature when I arrived at Lucy Park was 93, with a strong wind blowing, but the humidity supposedly making those 93 degrees really feel like 99.
I did not overheat.
But, by the end of the walking I was no longer wearing a shirt.
As you can see, the Lucy Park trees provide a nice cover of shade. The temperature is pleasantly cooler under the shade.
Lucy Park is the only one of my various walking locations which provides a lot of shade.
Tomorrow a cold front arrives, with the temperature scheduled not to go over 100, instead only heating into the 90s.
I am hoping Tuesday is another semi-cool day, so I can comfortably go to the 4th of July parade in downtown Wichita Falls. This parade was cancelled a couple years due to COVID. It is a fun parade....
