A Cool Walk Around Frozen Sikes Lake With Geese
With the temperature a relatively balmy 31 degrees I had my first outdoor nature communing excursion since my Texas location got way too cold and snow covered.
It was to Sikes Lake I drove, slowly, only sliding a couple times.
The Sikes Lake geese were all flocked together, along with a small flock of seagulls, which you see in the photo documentation. The seagulls are the birds on left side of the photo, not quite mingled in with the geese.
Walking on the frozen ground was fairly easy. I had no near falls.
Yesterday, around 5, I was getting stir crazy, again, and so thought a trek to Walmart might provide some salubrious stimulation.
Just a short distance from my abode I found myself stuck trying to get on to Southwest Boulevard. After spinning my tires, fruitlessly, for a few minutes, two guys saw my predicament and got me mobile, again, pushing me onto Southwest Boulevard.
This frigid nightmare is not scheduled to end for a couple more days.

Icy Saturday Lucy Park Walk With Gas
On this final Saturday of the 2022 version of February my smiley face was able to get outdoors for the first time in a couple days of being icebound.
There are still some slippery spots, but they are now navigable.
Russia had not yet invaded Ukraine when last I had exited my abode. So, today was the first chance to get gassed before the price goes way up.
On Thursday, that being the last day I saw the gas station I gassed at today, gas was $2.98 a gallon. Now, a few days later, it has only gone up a dime, to $3.08.
This time of year, when the temperature hovers around freezing, I tend not to fill the tank. Today the tank got filled, figuring who knows what is coming next. Huge price hike. Or a disruption to the gas supply. Who knows?
Had a relatively fine time walking around Lucy Park after getting gassed. I did not expect there to be many people in the park today. I was wrong. There were multiple groups of disc golfers. And a couple joggers. And one guy finding pecans in the snow.
By tomorrow ice should no longer be an issue.
I hope...

Getting A Tandy Hills Rash While Delivering Ice
It was windy when I went to hike the Tandy Hills today. That helped make the 100 degrees feel less like 100 degrees.But.
I have developed a painful heat rash type ailment in delicate areas best left rash free. I am currently in treating it with ointment mode.
I'd not been on the Tandy Hills for a few days. Since my last visit there has been a new arrival. In the middle of the hills that big black round thing with a white stripe showed up at a trail junction.
How did this get there? And why? Is it the start of a new Tandy Hills Shrine? There are pieces of long dead vehicles scattered about the Tandy Hills. It would be a lot of bother to move the vehicle pieces to the central location of the black round thing.
It is just one more perplexing Tandy Hills mystery.
I'm out of here in a bit to make an ice cube delivery to a hapless individual who requires ice for her libations, but who's icemaker is currently not making ice in amounts sufficient to meet the libation's needs.
I have no idea if the ice I deliver will survive the HEAT it will endure on the way to the libations.
