A Memorial Day Walk Over Fosdick Falls In Oakland Lake Park

That is a Memorial Day look at Fosdick Lake in Oakland Lake Park you are looking at here.

No raindrops dripped on me whilst I walked around the lake, but the clouds looked, and continue to look, extremely threatening.

Memorial Day had the park being much busier than the norm. But I saw only two groups attempting to have a Memorial Day picnic.

Several people were attempting to catch fish that one is advised not to eat.

I thought Fosdick Lake would be flooded more than it was. The lake will have to rise a few more inches to put the paved trail on the east side under water.

Fosdick Lake did have enough extra water to cause Fosdick Falls to be roaring like a mini-Niagara.

I don't know how many homes could be electrified by the hydro power potential currently pouring over Fosdick Dam.

Maybe one small doghouse.

A Duck Walk With The Fosdick Lake Turtles Over Fosdick Falls

The duck population populating Fort Worth's Fosdick Lake in Oakland Lake Park seems to have soared since my last visit.

I assume ducks flying south for the winter use Fosdick Lake as a way station. Or is Fosdick Lake the duck's final destination?

There were plenty of duck feeders feeding the quackers today, including the trio you see here.

Yesterday's copious rain raised the water level in my pool, but not its temperature. The hot tub's water level, and temperature, seemed unaffected by yesterday's rain.

The water level of Fosdick Lake, like my swimming pool, was affected by yesterday's rain, raising the lake level to the point that water was roaring over Fort Worth's biggest waterfall, Fosdick Falls. You can witness Fosdick Falls falling in the video below.

But, before we get to the video, I was pleased to see the Fosdick turtles had come out of their cold hiding places and were back enjoying sunbathing on their favorite log in the balmy almost 70 degrees. I hope the turtles enjoy their sunny break while it lasts, before they get blasted by this afternoon's predicted gale force blow.

Last night, in the middle of the night, 3am to be precise, my phone made its incoming text message type noise. I woke up the phone expecting some dire message, but instead saw an Urgent Wind Warning from AccuWeather.

At 3am AccuWeather sent out a Wind Advisory for wind expected to blow hard 11 hours later. I can't be the only one who finds this annoying. And idiotic.

We are coming up now on one in the afternoon. A slight breeze is blowing. I may be un-installing the AccuWeather App from my phone....

Wearing Long Pants To Walk Across Fosdick Falls Feeling The Earth Move

Earlier today I heard on the radio that an earthquake shook the ground south of Dallas in the past 24 hours.

When I exited my motorized transport today at Oakland Lake Park I thought I felt the earth move.

I am almost 100% certain that the movement I thought I felt was not an earthquake.

I am also almost 100% certain that the movement I thought I felt was not caused by the water falling over Fosdick Falls.

As you can see, above, it does not appear that there is enough water falling over Fosdick Falls to cause any earth tremors.

Despite the imaginary shaky ground I had myself a mighty fine walk around Fosdick Lake. The temperature was barely in the 50s. I was in long pants.

Wearing long pants makes me feel so grownup....

I Was An Angel Of Mercy Before I Walked Over Fort Worth's Fosdick Falls In Oakland Lake Park

Very early this morning, sometime around 4am, thunder boomed and rain poured down. This storm was of short duration, but of long enough duration that water fell in amounts sufficient to cause Fosdick Falls to still be roaring from water falling out of Fosdick Lake by the time I walked across Fosdick Dam, a short time before noon on this 3rd day of April.

Early April has brought a hint of a return of winter to my location in North Texas. As in the outer world at my location is currently being chilled to 47 degrees.

When I went swimming, this morning, the air was being chilled to 49 degrees. With the air chilled to 49 degrees the water in the pool was warmer than the air. Hence I had myself a real fine time in the pool this morning.

I suspect tomorrow morning's swim will have me back cycling between the hot tub and the pool due to the outer world being too cool for an extensive pool bout.

On my way to Oakland Lake Park I stopped at a Circle K to get gas. I talked to my mom yesterday, so I did not call my mom to tell her I got gas today.

An amusing incident occurred whilst I was getting gassed. Right after I swiped the debit card and entered the PIN I saw a generously sized, stylishly dressed, African American lady struggling with a big bag of stuff she'd bought at the Circle K. She opened the door of her cool looking car and got sort of pinned between the door and the bag.

I quickly zipped over to the lady and grabbed the bag. She did not see me coming, but was instantly relieved to find her struggle over. She looked at me and said, "Thank you Lord, you have sent me an Angel of Mercy."

What happened next is a little embarrassing to repeat. The lady looked at me, up close, and said, "Oh my God, you are so handsome. Just look at you. You're an angel."

More words were uttered about wanting to take me home or take my picture. The words were coming at me real fast, so I am a bit blurry remembering what was said.

Regarding the lady saying I was so handsome and an angel, I noticed that before she started her engine and drove away, she put on eyeglasses....

Contemplating Throwing Fubbo The Hut Off Fosdick Falls With Grandpa Gar Going Bang Bang Boom Boom

Fosdick Falls in Oakland Lake Park
I was not too surprised today to see that the deluge of the past couple days has Fosdick Lake's Fosdick Creek roaring over Fosdick Falls in Oakland Lake Park.

The volume of water falling was not quite sufficient to make the earth tremble, but is was sufficient to make a good strong water falling noise.

Shorts and a t-shirt were not quite sufficient outer wear coverage today. The temperature was, allegedly, in the mid 50s. But, a strong wind, and clouds blocking the sun, made for some chilly outdoor aerobicizing.

Changing the subject from chilly Fosdick Falls to Fubbo the Hut.

I am feeling real bad about Fubbo the Hut. Well, not exactly bad about Fubbo, but bad about what Fubbo is doing to yet one more innocent victim of Fubbo the Hut's irrational, neurotic wrath.

Fubbo is claiming that Tacoma's Connie D has somehow betrayed Fubbo by somehow helping me do something imaginary to Fubbo the Hut.

I have referenced a time, or two, an entity I refer to as my "Tacoma Informant."

Well, this is actually more than one person. And they are not really informants. It's more a thing where I will get asked something, for instance, "Do you know what Fubbo did to Jon Bob?" I then will ask one of my Tacoma Informants who the hell Jon Bob is and if they know what Fubbo did to them.

I believe Fubbo the Hut is convinced Connie D is my Tacoma Informant and the blog commenter who calls herself  "Tacoma Girl."

Fubbo the Hut is making up all sorts of twisted lies regarding this, and is insinuating that she feels in danger, scared of what Connie D and me are going to do to her.

This is all quite unsettling.

And totally horrible to be doing to Connie D, who has never talked to me about Fubbo the Hut. Connie D Facebook friended me years ago, which I assume is the source of Fubbo the Hut's paranoia.

As for my "Tacoma Informants". None of those, who I refer to as such, actually lives in Tacoma. One is in Puyallup, one is in Seattle, with another one in Snohomish.

Changing the subject from the sick subject of Fubbo the Hut to something more normal.

I learned today that Gar the Texan is getting married, yet again. I assume that this time the wife will be able to speak English. I really think being able to communicate would be useful if one wants to be married to someone.

It is not all that much of a surprise to learn that Gar the Texan is getting married again. I have lost track of what number this will be. Wife #4? Or is it #5?

The surprising news, from Gar the Texan, that I learned today, is that he is about to become a Grandpa.

How can Gar the Texan be old enough to be a Grandpa?

Maybe Gar the Texan is just being tricky, leaving out a detail or two. Like maybe the new wife has a Grandkid, which would make Gar the Texan a step-Grandpa, upon marrying the new wife.

And on one more Gar the Texan note, before I shut up, a couple weeks ago Gar blogged about Seeing Red, which had to do with his fixation on redheads. The blogging included the video you see below, Beth Hart singing Bang Bang Boom Boom. This song has become, for me, what I believe is called an Earworm. Meaning I can't get Bang Bang Boom Boom out of my head. It's very addictive...

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that Tacoma's Connie D is not the same as the Texas Connie D. These are totally different people, who have the same first name and last names which start with the same letter, that being "D".
