Christmas Before Halloween & Thanksgiving

Christmas, 2025's version, at my location on the planet, seems to have arrived way earlier than I remember being the case in previous years.

Christmas decorations began showing up before Halloween.

MSU's (Midwestern State University's) Fantasy of Lights installation was mostly completely installed, before Halloween.

My next-door neighbor had the twinkling lights, inflated Santa, reindeer and giant candy canes, in place, and lit up, before Halloween.

The most over the top early Christmas display is the one you see photo documented above, with the photo taken this morning on my way to WinCo. My camera could only capture part of this display in one photo. 

Every year, since I have been in Wichita Falls, this has been the biggest Christmas display I see, with each year more than the year before.

This is located on Hamilton Boulevard, across from Hamilton Park, in the area north of my abode which I refer to as the Beverly Hills of Wichita Falls.

I am ready for tomorrow's Part 2 of the annual Holiday Season. No turkey will be seen in my abode tomorrow....

My 2023 Christmas Decorating Is Completed

On this first Saturday of the last month of 2023 I completed my Christmas decorating in record breaking time.

That is what you see photo documented.

The Christmas camel was made by my Grandma Vera, back in the previous century. Granda Vera is my mom's mom.

The Christmas stocking was crocheted by my Grandma Slotemaker. Grandma Slotemaker is my dad's mom.

In years past I have had trouble remembering where I stored my Christmas decorations. I have solved this problem by writing a note telling me where I stored the Christmas decorations. So, now, all I have to do is remember where I put the note telling me where I stored the Christmas decorations.

In all the years I have been in charge of Christmas decorating, I have never had a Christmas tree.

Christmas trees always seemed absurd to me. When I lived with my parental units and siblings I recollect every year's Christmas tree installation was a big production. Sometimes it would involve getting a tree cutting permit and driving to a designated Christmas tree cutting area in the Cascade mountains. That was actually a bit fun.

For a couple years my mom succumbed to the aluminum Christmas tree fad. That involved assembling the tree by sticking aluminum limbs into holes on the center pole. Then stringing lights, making for a hideous display of reflective color. With an aluminum Christmas tree there was no need to hang tinsel on the limbs. There was already enough shiny glittering silver.

Thirty more days and the holiday season comes to its New Year's Day end....

After A Lot Of Hard Work My Christmas Decorations Are Finally Festive

In the blogging previous to this current blogging I mentioned that I had finished with the task of installing my Christmas decorations.

Well, Christmas decoration would be more precise.

Bart Simpson, sitting on my fireplace mantle, serves as my Christmas tree, upon which I hang my one and only Christmas tree ornament, a Christmas stocking tree ornament crocheted by my grandma back in the last century.

I have never had a Christmas tree in any of the domiciles I have inhabited in all the years since I became the master of my own domain.

My lack of Christmas decorating vexed my mom when I lived in Mount Vernon. The house had flat roofs, three of them, two of which were easily accessed via doors. My mom felt it was some sort of sacrilege that I did not string up Christmas lights, what with it being so easy to do on my flat roofed house.

One year, around Thanksgiving, my mom brought over boxes of Christmas lights. She'd bought new ones and was giving me her old ones, thinking this somehow made it inexcusable for me not to put up the lights.

The boxes of lights stayed in their boxes. I don't remember what became of those Christmas lights.
