Tootsie Tonasket Picketing Okanogan County Courthouse Seeking Justice

The lovely lady you see here is known by various names. Tootsie Tonasket. Aunt Alice. Alice Odella. And Alice Hudson.

On Monday Aunt Alice and family and friends ventured to Okanogan to stage a protest in front of the Okanogan County Courthouse.

I blogged about this this morning on my Washington blog in Wade Hudson Family & Friends Picket Okanogan Courthouse For Justice.

For those who do not not know what happened to Wade Hudson that is causing his family and friends to protest I will copy an explanatory paragraph from previous bloggings....

On Saturday, September 26, 2015 33 year old Wade Hudson was brutally beaten to death in Omak, Washington by police person Shane Schaefer. Wade was murdered because he had a series of epileptic seizures from which he had not fully recovered and was not able to respond to the demands of this very aggressive, abusive killer in uniform. There is a civil law suit filed by Wade's parents against this murderer and a congressman helping to ask for an independent investigation into this death. The Omak, WA police agency has done an internal investigation and found the killer not guilty of murder. The evidence and witnesses do not support their decision. Please help us, Wade's family send this evil cop to prison and get him off the streets before he kills more innocent citizens for being very ill and disabled.

I know the wheels of justice spin slow too much of the time. But, it's been at least six months, I think, since Tootsie Tonasket's, aka Aunt Alice's, son, Wade, was beaten by an Omak cop while Wade was having an epileptic seizure.

I believe the beating was caught on video.

I do not know the current status of the lawsuit initiated by Wade's mom and dad.

I also do not know if the cop, Shane Schaefer, who administered the beating which led to Wade's death, is still on active duty. Or on some sort of leave.

Aunt Alice has had a tough time of it since Wade was murdered. She is currently missing his help yardwork, garden prep-wise. But, a lot of people have stepped up and helped Aunt Alice during this ordeal.

Aunt Alice Called Last Night To Talk About Wade

It was a week ago Sunday that Aunt Alice's son, Wade, died.

Aunt Alice called me last night, successfully, for the first time since Wade died.

Aunt Alice was unable to answer many of the questions I had, due to the sad fact neither Aunt Alice, or Wade's dad, Uncle Albert, have been told the answers.

The Facebook Messenger phone app is of poor quality, which I indicated when Facebook inquired after the call ended, so I may have not heard correctly a thing or two.

But this is what I think I understand.

Wade had completed his first day on a new job at the Omak Walmart. I think Aunt Alice had driven Wade to Omak, with Wade expecting Uncle Albert to pick him up after work. I believe this was Friday. When Wade's shift ended, as he was waiting for a ride, he had a seizure. The Walmart manager had Wade brought to the Omak Hospital. I believe Aunt Alice was then called. A friend then drove Aunt Alice to Omak. They stayed with Wade for about 30 minutes, then left, not wanting to tire him out.

Aunt Alice does not know what happened the next day. Wade either left on his own, or was discharged by the hospital. But, he was not out of the hospital long when he must have had another seizure, though Aunt Alice does not know. He was then flown to Harborview Hospital in Seattle.

Alice did not go to Seattle. I think Albert may have. Alice had no one to take her to Seattle. Wade died the next morning. Aunt Alice has no information about any details. This seems both sad and hard to understand.

Wade will be buried on Wednesday in the cemetery in a little town near Tonasket called Loomis. Aunt Alice is not quite sure how she is getting to the burial.

Uncle Albert's sister, Sharon, set up a GoFundMe webpage, which you see screen capped above, to help raise money for Wade Hudson Funeral Expenses.

From the Wade Hudson Funeral Expenses GoFundMe webpage....

Thank you everyone who has donated. Wade is remembered with love and thankfulness for the time we had him with us. His father Albert and Mother Alice are very grateful. God bless you kind people.

Wade's Aunt Sharon
My precious nephew, Wade Hudson died unexpectedly Sunday, September 26, 2015. He was taken from us suddenly and tragically and died from brain injuries. My brother, Albert Hudson is left to not only grieve for his son but to bear the expenses of a funeral and burial costs. We are asking for donations to help Albert with the expenses. Wade is survived by his daughter, LaVada Hudson, father Albert Hudson, mother Alice Hudson. Any donation will help even if only 5 dollars. Thank you.

Wade's Uncle Roger
A huge THANK YOU to all who have pitched in to help out with this. Please feel free to reach out folks and post on social media so others can see this cause and join in. A couple dollars from a lot of people can help cover costs for the burial. Albert is facing a lot of other costs beyond the $2000 needed to bury Wade. This $2000 will cover the cost of a burial plot in Loomis, the concrete liner, the fees for digging the hole and a pine casket. Nothing extravagant is planned and nobody is looking to make a buck off this cause. You all are wonderful and will be blessed for helping out with what you can.

Today Aunt Alice's Son Wade Rests In Peace

Last night I was surprised, on Facebook, to learn that Aunt Alice's son, Wade, had been taken to Harborview Hospital in Seattle, due to seizures causing his brain to bleed.

I assume Wade was flown to Seattle in an emergency air ambulance.

I was struck by all the people expressing their support for Aunt Alice. Her kindly nature really does bring out the best in an awful lot of people.

I learned a few minutes ago, also on Facebook, that Wade died this morning.

Aunt Alice tried to call me yesterday. It was an odd call. Suddenly Facebook notified me that Aunt Alice was calling me. How did Facebook know this? Then my phone lit up, telling me I had a call, but it was not the usual thing I see when I get a call. I couldn't figure out how to answer it.

My friend on the planet of the longest duration, Linda R, asked me a couple weeks ago if Aunt Alice was my mom or my dad's sister, because Linda did not remember me having an aunt named Alice.

Well, Aunt Alice is not really my aunt. I just call her that. And she refers to  me as her Sweet Nephew. Aunt Alice is also known as Tootsie Tonasket of the Okanogan Tribe. Alice used to be married to Uncle Albert, last name Hudson, which makes Wade's name Wade Hudson. Aunt Alice used to be Alice Hudson, tell she reverted  to Alice Odella, her pre-married name.

I have known Aunt Alice for a long time. But I have never met her in person. Or Wade. I think I have only been to Eastern Washington once since I came to know Aunt Alice.

Years ago Alice emailed me a question about the Branch-Davidians. She'd been to my webpage that documented my visit to the site of that tragedy and somehow thought I was associated with that cult. This began years of email exchanges.

I've seen Aunt Alice change drastically over the years, growing way more confident. MySpace and then Facebook connected Aunt Alice with the rest of the world in a way she did not have available to her prior to social media. Via Facebook Aunt Alice re-connected with her sister she'd been separated from since she was a little kid.

Aunt Alice is not rich in material goods, she has some health issues stemming from childhood meningitis. But, Aunt Alice is rich in heart and spirit. And she's a real good cook.

Wade was the same age as two of my nephews, Spencer Jack's uncle Joey and my nephew Jeremy's big brother, Christopher.

Soon after I met Aunt Alice she became a grandma. Wade had a baby with Veronica, a girl named Lavada. Lavada is now in high school. Time flies.

I assume Wade was getting good medical care. ObamaCare did not get compromised in Washington, like it did in Texas. No one should die from lack of decent medical care in the country which touts itself as the best in the world with the world's highest standard of living.

Sentiments which actually are not reality based....
